And more have now been added to the list: a further four pieces from Look Who’s Morphing, translated into Italian by Elena Carletti, have been published in Malicuvata, an Italian e-journal. They are “Suitmation”, “Dinner with my Brother”, “Dinner with my Grandmother” and “Dinner with Auntie Ling and Uncle Wang”.

(I quite like how my Google translator plugin has translated “Look who’s morphing” to “Those who feel change”.)

PS Even more recently, I’ve had a new story from my second book manuscript published. I’ll blog about that soon.

It’s in issue 66 (and it’s pretty cool that I can say that I’m sharing issue-space with Martin Amis!). This particular publication of my work has been some time in the making and I wanted to thank some people here.

Firstly, a big thanks to the Italian translator of my work, Elena Carletti, who has not only been a fantastic translator but has been so proactive in getting the translations published.  Also featured is a photo of me by Lisa Milne – thanks for your work, Lisa! And, last but not least, a warm thanks to the team at Storie for their support!

In particular, it’s now possible to read the ebook sample of my book, Look Who’s Morphing, right here on my site. And, on the Extras page, I’ve linked to the recording of my piece ‘The Sound of Music’ (also from Look Who’s Morphing) for audio journal Paper Radio. This recording features me reading the piece, with some great sound design by Jon Tjhia.

I have turned into a very lazy blogger these days (I’m more likely to be doing micro-blogging on Twitter) but don’t give up on me. More posts are coming soon.

PS Also, in time, I hope to show you some excerpts from my second book in progress.

For me, it refers to a stage musical, a film musical, a sing-a-long screening of the film musical (which I’ve been to twice, ahem), a tour in Saltzberg that I have always wanted to go on, a well-worn video cassette of the film musical that I used to watch on regular visits to my dad’s house as a kid… and a story from my first book, Look Who’s Morphing.

And now, it also refers a recording of my story in the audio journal Paper Radio, narrated by me and with sound design from Jon Tjhia. Thanks to the crew at Paper Radio for putting this together. Also, a special shout-out to Giramondo Publishing for their continued support and Henry Winkler for his inspiration.

The translator, Elena Carletti (a wonderful intern at Giramondo Publishing), has also been very proactive in submitting these works to Italian literary journals. Coming up soon, two pieces will be published – along with some photos showing a few locations where I like to write – at a journal called Storie.

But even sooner than that, an online journal, Il Paradiso Degli Orchi, has just published my piece The Exorcist, now known as L’esorcista. Check it out:

P.S. I grew up in a neighbourhood that had a strong Italian community and I learnt Italian at school so I recognise some of the words in the piece – especially, I admit, the swear words. (The swearing works well in Italian.)
